Admission is always free. BarCamp Charlotte exists to benefit the local community and this year any donations go to help benefit Speak Up, a local 501(c) (3) public charty. Speak Up is a street magazine for Charlotte sold primarily by homeless and low-income people. By selling Speak Up, homeless individuals can earn a livable income through hard work, helping them to become financially responsible, gain a sense of pride and live with dignity and hope. There are over 100 street newspapers and magazines in 40 countries. In the last 15 years, these publications have impacted the lives of over 250,000 homeless men and women.
